This week has been all about caterpillars for the Little Owls!  We have talked about the lifecycle of a caterpillar, made a large paper plate caterpillar and explored symmetry through string painting butterflies.  We even found time to check on our beans and plant sunflowers.  Later in the week our very own caterpillars arrived for us to observe.
It’s been a busy week for the Little Owls!  We’ve noticed some changes with our beans we planted and our caterpillars…they’re both much bigger!  We made crowns to celebrate the coronation.  We shared the story of the gingerbread man, decorating our own, exploring ginger play dough and finally exploring what happens to gingerbread men when placed in water, oil and vinegar!
The Little Owls have been listening to the story of the Three Little Pigs.  We have listened to 2 different versions and noticed some similarities and differences.  We have been building the pig houses through craft and with bricks.  We have been using the repetitive refrains (huff and puff, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin) through our small world play.
